Discover the timeless art of stained glass in our introductory class on building stained glass windows with lead came! In this hands-on workshop, students will create a small, glass panel while learning the foundational skills of this beautiful craft. Explore the art of glass selection, master the techniques of glass cutting, and learn how to use a pattern to bring your design to life. Gain valuable experience working with lead came to fabricate and assemble your piece with expert guidance. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to expand your creative horizons, this class is the perfect starting point for your stained glass journey. Carrie Grey shows at local galleries, CORE, The Lynn Hanson Gallery, and The Seattle Glassblowing Studio, and is featured in the national publications, Luxe Interiors + Design (July/August 2023) and the Stained-Glass Association of America (SGAA) Quarterly (Winter 2022). She is listed on the Washington State Public Artist Roster (2023-2025), and in the Fall of 2022 and 2023, she opened her studio up to the public as a featured artisan in REFRACT: The Seattle Glass Experience.

You will be creating a beautiful fused glass garden stake to add a splash of color to your yard or patio. The wrought iron stand is a perfect way to incorporate your fused art into your garden. Students will learn basic fusing concepts and will have the opportunity to use transparent and/or opalescent colored glass on a clear base along with frit, stringers, and glass nuggets. You’ll be given tips on design and layout to create your own unique garden stake. You’ll be making a 3″ x 24″ fused glass panel to insert into a wrought iron garden stake that stands approximately 43″ high. Glass panels are fired after class. Students will be notified via email when projects are ready for pickup (within 7-10 business days). If these dates and times don’t work for you, please inquire about private classes.

In this 3-hour workshop you will create your own Seattle skyline on clear glass. You build the ideal little city around your Seattle Space Needle or Big Wheel using opaque colored glass in black, charcoal, pewter, ivory and mauve. Stringers, noodles, glass frit and pre-cut shapes will help you build your scene. You have the option to leave your art flat for display in a stand (stand not included) or slumped to stand on edge and put a candle behind to make your city glow. Stained glass is an art form that magically combines glass with light. The copper foil technique, also known as the Tiffany Method, allows you to create more intricate designs than are possible with the traditional lead method. This introductory class provides a foundation for you to start expressing your creativity through this unique medium. We will cover designing projects for glass, the art of glass cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, finishing, and presentation. Students will select from 3 designs provided to create a copper foil panel. It is important that you attend all four sessions as each session builds on the previous session. All supplies included.
Once you complete your Introduction to Copper Foil class, consider furthering your skills by joining our intermediate workshops. Students need to have their own tools and materials. Beginner tool kits are available to students at a discounted rate.

If you would like to learn techniques beyond the basics, this is the class for you. In this 6-week session, you choose the project and skills you would like to learn or improve. Students will learn how to properly design their pattern for their glass project, as well as where to position the hangers. Learn skills such as edge soldering, how to do copper foil overlay, incorporate actual river rocks, and more. Students may also bring their existing projects to work on and receive technical help.

*Prerequisite: Introduction to Copper Foil with Anita or have taken a similar multi-week class with an instructor. We recommend that you take Anita’s Introduction to Copper Foil class if it’s been awhile since you worked with glass.

Our introductory fusing class provides you with the basic technical and practical skills necessary to start fusing on your own. The class includes basic cutting skills, firing schedules, safety topics, and design techniques. You will have an opportunity to try out the various tools available to work with glass. This is a one-day, hands-on class in which you will foster your fusing knowledge while assembling an 8” square project using one of several patterns provided. Your final art can be used as a plate or display piece.

Let your creativity shine as you design a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind glass lantern! This magical glass fusion workshop will have you crafting 4 beautiful glass panels to illuminate your space. Whether this is your first time fusing or you are a seasoned glass enthusiast, our team will guide you every step of the way. You will design your panels using fusible glass, colorful frits, pre-fired nuggets, glass stringers and noodles. Once completed, your art will be fired and assembled. We will notify you when your project is ready to be picked up, generally this is 7-10 days.

Stringers, noodles, glass frit and pre-fired nuggets will help you build your spooky scene. You have the option to leave your art flat for display in a stand or slumped to use as a serving plate.
