Stained Glass – Copper Foil Method

Stained glass is a magical art form that combines the beauty of colored glass with the dynamic brilliance of light. This introductory class focuses on the copper foil technique, also known as the Tiffany Method, which allows for the creation of intricate and detailed designs far exceeding the limitations of traditional lead came construction. Students will select from 3 pre-designed patterns provided by the instructor to create their first copper foil panel. This comprehensive four-session course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation to begin expressing your creativity through this unique medium.

You will learn:

  1. Understanding glass patterns.
  2. The Art of Glass Cutting: Mastering essential scoring and breaking techniques.
  3. Foiling: Applying the copper foil neatly to prepare the glass for soldering.
  4. Soldering: Learning to create strong, clean, and beautiful solder lines.
  5. Finishing and Presentation: Applying patina, polish, and preparing the finished piece for display.

Important Note on Attendance

It is essential that you attend all four sessions, as the curriculum is structured to build skills sequentially, with each session directly dependent on the knowledge and practice gained in the previous one.

Once you complete your Introduction to Copper Foil class, consider furthering your skills by joining our intermediate workshops. Class dates will be provided on the last day of class. Students need to have their own tools and materials. Beginner tool kits are available to students at a discounted rate.
