Introduction to Fusing

Our introductory fusing class provides you with the basic technical and practical skills necessary to start fusing on your own or in a glass community like our open workshops.  The class includes basic cutting skills, safety guidelines, and design techniques. You will have an opportunity to try out the various tools available to work with glass. This is a one-day, hands-on class in which you will complete one main layered project. If time permits, you can assemble a few trivets and treasures. No previous experience required. This class must have at least 4 students to run so invite a friend.

Introduction to Glass-on-Glass Mosaic

In this class, students will create a translucent stained glass mosaic on a pane of clear glass that can be illuminated when hung in a window or lit from behind. This glass-on-glass mosaic class requires no previous experience with glass or mosaic techniques. You will have the opportunity to try out basic glass tools including the mosaic class cutter. A grouting demonstration will be presented at the end of class, with students receiving supplies to grout at home after their project is fully cured.  No previous experience required.

Introduction to Leaded Stained Glass

In this introductory 4-week class, students will get hands-on experience with stained glass tools, basic construction methods and safety guidelines for working with lead.  The skills taught in this class will be sufficient for building small to medium size projects.  This class features demonstrations on transferring patterns to cutting templates as well as using putty, whiting and patina. Students will leave the class with patterns for creating two additional projects on their own or in our community workshop.  All materials and tools will be provided for this class.  No previous experience required.

Introduction to Copper Foil Stained Glass

This introductory 4-week class provides a foundation for stained glass using the copper foil technique.  We will cover designing and pattern transfer options as well as safety guidelines, glass cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, finishing and hanging options.  Students will select from 3 designs to create a copper foil panel. Students will leave the class with patterns for creating two additional projects on their own or in our community workshop.  All materials and tools will be provided for this class. No previous experience required.

Fuse-and-Wear Glass Jewelry Workshop

Join us in this exciting one-day workshop.  You will learn about magical Dichroic glass and how to layer it to create jewelry that sparkles!  Glass cutting, shaping and groove making will be taught.  You will fuse your own jewelry designs and learn the technique of wire-wrapping so you can wear your new creations right after this workshop! Students will have enough bails and jewelry findings to make 2 sets of earrings and pendants. If time permits, you may be able to make extra cabochons to take home. No previous experience required.
